About Library and Information Center

The library is known as the Learning Resource Center (LRC), is the heart of the Academic Center at the YDIT.

The Vision of Library at YDIT is to change the library from static resource center to a dynamic center of instruction, exploration and learning to successfully meet the challenges of information explosion.

To serve as a resource center and to develop a comprehensive collection of documents useful for faculty and students of the institute and to provide an efficient dissemination of knowledge.

The Institute has a well-stocked library with latest editions of books by eminent authors on various subjects to cater to the needs and requirements of the faculty as well as students. Cataloguing and issue of books is now fully Computerized. Presently, the library has about 14,990 volumes for the engineering disciplines. The Library is subscribing to VTU E-Consortium and thus a large number of International scientific journals are available online.

The Library has adopted the Open Access System; the users can go to the stacks, browse or select the books and sources freely. The reading lists are provided on the stack racks. The users can easily find the books as per their requirements.

Library Automation

YDIT Library services are partially automated with “Easylib” software package which is a single-user library management system that supports all in-house operations of the Library. The software consists of modules on acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, serials, article indexing and OPAC. Student can now be accessed through the OPAC (online public access cataloguing). The database of books available in the Library is being updated on day to day basis with details of recently acquired books. The editing and updating activities are in progress. The “Easylib” package has been successfully implemented for the circulation activities, by using the barcode. All the books of library are bar-coded.

Digital Library

It is located in the Main Library. There are 12 Systems with LAN and Internet Connection.

Students can access E-books, online journals, VTU E-learning material and previous year question papers during free hours.  Students are allowed to do their project works in the digital library.
